Why it matters

Where your money goes

The PTA pays for:

  • planners and seminar books given to the students

  • books for the library student clubs and activities

  • uniforms for sports teams

  • the Jupiter grading system

  • replacing old or broken school furniture

  • the graduation party

  • funding for staff salaries

  • and so much more!

The PTA’s yearly budget is drafted by the Treasurer(s) with input from the principal and approved by the PTA membership; changes can be voted on at the PTA General meetings.

More than 50% of our kids are eligible for free or reduced lunch. We need you! There is no fee to be a member of BHSEC Queens PTA, and if you are comfortable, please donate what you can!

If 25% of our families donated $350 a year, this would cover most of our budget—unfortunately, many of our families cannot afford that.

How we raise money

The PTA hosts several fundraising events over the school year:

  • The first PTA meeting of the year (September) typically includes food and beverages

  • Our Annual Appeal is our mail-in fundraising drive (November/December)

  • The Saturday Symposium features seminars by faculty and sometimes parents or students (April)

  • The Spring Fling for parents, faculty, and staff is our big event of the year, allowing us to mix and mingle, have delicious food and drinks, look out at the incredible Brooklyn horizon from a glamorous rooftop venue, and raise money for our amazing school.

Treasurer Reports

Copies of the Treasurer’s Reports are presented at each PTA General meeting and are on file in the PTA binders. Prior years’ reports are also on file in the school.
